Ethics approval

The Human Research and Ethics Committee at Curtin University has
approved this research project (HRE2022-0214-04).

Brief overview

In Australia, a higher percentage of sexuality- and gender-diverse youth
(SGD-Y) face mental health issues than the general population. Also,
research suggests SGD-Y find it harder to access mental health services
than the general population. This points to a need for improved access.

We will chat with SGD-Y for 30-minutes each to explore what has
shaped their (dis)satisfaction with mental health counselling services in
WA. We want to understand what SGD-Y need from these services and
why. We also want to know how these needs are or could be met. We
hope our findings will inform mental health service providers on what
they are doing well, and what needs to improve to provide relevant
support to SGD-Y.

You can chat with us via video-chat, phone call, or text (email or SMS).
Interviews will take place from July to September (10 AM – 8 PM
weekdays, 10 AM – 5 PM weekends). We will give you an e-gift card for
your time (not SONA participants). Please find a quiet and private place to do your interview.
